Hey Reader,
Today I wanted to discuss why posting educational content is not enough anymore on LinkedIn.
When I started posting on LinkedIn (back in 2022), educational content was exploding—especially if it was in the form of carousels.
Now, whenever I scroll through my feed, I mostly see either educational or personal content. And smart creators are leaning into the latter because educational content doesn’t bring in results like it used to.
In today’s newsletter, you’ll learn why posting educational content alone won’t be enough in 2025 to grow your business—and what you can do about it.
Because you don’t want to keep doing the same thing if it’s not working for you, right?
Let’s dig in.
Why educational content doesn't work like it used to
1. AI lowered the barrier and made content creation accessible to everyone
Almost anyone posting on LinkedIn today can ask AI to generate a half-decent post.
I see it happening all the time. Since AI makes it so easy to churn out content, standing out in the sea of sameness has become much harder.
Most educational content is just recycled knowledge without fresh insights.
But people engage with content that challenges their existing beliefs, not just explains what something is. AI knows the basics, but it lacks the nuance—and the nuance is what sets you apart.
If your content only explains what something is without diving into why it matters or how to apply it differently, it won't stand out.
2. Add the "you" factor through storytelling
LinkedIn is still a social platform. People want to connect with others, not just read instruction manuals. And the best way to create that connection? Stories.
Stories about what shaped you, transformed your career, or challenged your perspective.
Most educational content sounds dry because people don't infuse it with their personal experiences or insights.
When you share content that's uniquely yours— people care about what you have to say. Your personality is the one thing that AI can't replicate.
Should you ditch educational content completely?
Not necessarily. But you should be more strategic about how often you post it.
Find a system that works for you—mix educational content with other types, like storytelling or thought leadership.
So what can you do about it?
I read this super cool book back in December while traveling throughout Mauritius - The story is everything by Andreas Loizou.
This is a must read for any business owner, who's priority is to grow their business on LinkedIn.
The biggest takeaway? Stories are what make people pay attention and remember you. They make others connect with you on an emotional level that educational content often LACKS.
That's why I want to share with you 3 storytelling frameworks you can use in your LinkedIn content:
Overcoming an obstaclestory – Tell story about a time when you faced a certain obstacle and what you learned from it.
Foundation/Origin story – Share how you started your business, the challenges you faced, and what led you to where you are today.
Client transformation story – Explain how your product or service helped someone achieve a specific result. Describe the challenge your client had before working with you and how their situation changed after.
Takeaway:
Educational content still has its place on LinkedIn, but it's not on the main stage anymore because AI has made it too easy to create content.
Now people crave more than just information. They are looking for connection with others through content.
If your goal is to stand out, start sharing stories that show your personality, beliefs, values, insights, and most importantly experience.
Try using one of these 3 story frameworks I shared and see how they change the way your audience engages with your content.
Hope you enjoyed this read.
